The Blooming of "Eclectic Fleurs"

The Evolution of the Floral Series I'm Creating & the Life Lessons I'm Learning Along the Way.

Hello from the creative zone where I’m currently bringing to life my latest floral series for you titled “Eclectic Fleurs”.

I shared with you recently a look back at “Paisley Bloom”, which was the first art piece I’d ever created and sold under the Effortlessly Eclectic name. Looking back at it inspired me to create more flowers for you… a whole series of them.

So I started creating flowers one by one, and at first I had a plan as to what the series would be… they would all have a similar whimsical vibe, be based on a specific color palette I had chosen, and go in an eclectic assortment of frames that I had selected and planned to refinish to pull them all together.

But as I started creating my fifth fleur piece, I stepped back & looked at all that I had created so far & it didn’t seem to make sense. The flowers were completely changing from one to the next with each one I created. I’d strayed from my original color palette idea, and the flowers’ personalities were so different that I started fearing maybe they just didn’t go together.

And what was this series really about, anyway?

Well after much inner turmoil, I finally realized something fascinating. The flowers are me! Each individual flower piece I created was a reflection of the thoughts & emotions I was experiencing during the time that I created it. Everything I was thinking & feeling was right there, clearly visible in each bloom. As my thoughts and feelings were evolving, the flowers were changing & evolving right along with me.

I found this incredibly beautiful.

So I decided to let go of the self-imposed restrictions of my initial style idea, color palette, & frame selection, & to let both the flowers themselves & my framing choices for them evolve naturally over time as the series progressed. My job was to simply sit in my studio with pen in hand as I watched the blooms magically appear all on their own just as they wanted to be. And the newly born blooms themselves would each tell me what kind of frame they would like to be adorned with. All I had to do was listen to them.

I came across a quote this morning that really resonated with me, & as I’m writing to you right now it’s just hit me that I must share it with you…

"If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it's not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That's why it's your path." - Joseph Campbell

Beautiful, isn’t it?

When you let things evolve & change naturally over time you allow life to become effortless, enjoyable, & sprinkled with the most delightful surprises along the way. And then when you sit back & enjoy all that you’ve created, you find that you have manifested outcomes that are light years beyond anything you had ever imagined.
